Full Form of VHA
What is VHA?
The Voluntary Health Association of India, commonly known as VHAI, is a prominent non-profit, non-governmental organization that has been actively working in India's health sector since its establishment in 1970. Headquartered in New Delhi, it functions as a federation of more than 4,500 member organizations spread across the country, forming one of the largest civil society health networks in the nation. VHAI plays a crucial role in advocating for sound public health policies, promoting preventive healthcare practices, and supporting communities through large-scale awareness campaigns on critical issues such as tobacco control, balanced nutrition, maternal and child health, and the prevention of communicable diseases. The association regularly collaborates with government bodies, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and other international agencies to design and implement health programs at the grassroots level. It is widely referenced in public health research, policy documents, and community health initiatives across India. For students preparing for UPSC, public health courses, or social work examinations, understanding VHAI's structure and contributions is important as questions about major health NGOs frequently appear in general studies and current affairs sections.
