What is VFI?
Vishwa Foundation India (VFI) is a non-governmental organization that operates across various states of the country with the objective of uplifting underprivileged communities through targeted welfare programs. The foundation primarily focuses on three core areas, namely primary education, rural healthcare, and women empowerment, working closely with state governments and district administrations to identify beneficiaries. Registered as a charitable trust under the Indian Trusts Act, VFI has been operational for nearly two decades and runs community learning centers, mobile health units, and skill development workshops in districts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh. The organization partners with corporate donors under their CSR initiatives and collaborates with international agencies for funding its programs. Volunteers from colleges and professionals from urban centers frequently participate in their rural deployment drives. Several state education boards have also recognized VFI adult literacy modules and recommended them in government school curricula. The foundation publishes annual impact reports highlighting the number of children enrolled, women trained, and patients treated. For students preparing for civil services and other competitive examinations, awareness of such foundations and their scope of work is sometimes useful in current affairs and general knowledge sections, especially when questions appear on NGOs and their contribution to social development in India.
