Unmanned X Vehicle
Full Form of UXV
What is UXV?
Unmanned X Vehicle, commonly abbreviated as UXV, is a broad classification used to describe any autonomous or remotely operated vehicle that operates without a human presence onboard. The X in UXV acts as a placeholder for the operating domain, covering aerial, ground, surface, and underwater platforms. This umbrella term includes Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs), Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs), and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs). In India, UXVs are gaining tremendous importance due to the rising demand for surveillance, reconnaissance, logistics, and combat support systems across the armed forces. The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force have all been actively inducting various unmanned platforms, and the Ministry of Defence has introduced supportive policies to boost indigenous manufacturing of drones and autonomous systems. UXVs are deployed in border surveillance, mine detection, anti-piracy operations, and disaster response missions. The term is frequently referenced in defence procurement documents, strategic discussions, and military technology journals.
