Remote Learning Module
Full Form of RLM
What is RLM?
Remote Learning Module (RLM) is a structured digital or offline learning resource designed to deliver educational content outside the traditional classroom setting. In India, RLMs were widely adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure continuity of learning when schools were closed. They typically include self-paced lessons, videos, quizzes, and worksheets, and can be accessed via smartphones, tablets, or printed handouts. The Ministry of Education and state education boards promoted RLMs as part of the 'Padhai Do, Padhao Do' initiative, especially for students in rural and underserved areas lacking internet connectivity. RLMs are used in both formal schooling and informal skill-development programs, often complementing live online classes. They are distributed through DIKSHA platform, WhatsApp groups, and community centres. For competitive exams like CTET or UGC NET, understanding RLMs as a pedagogical tool is relevant for questions on educational technology and inclusive education. The concept has also been adapted for vocational training under Skill India, making it a versatile instrument for bridging the digital divide and supporting continuous learning across diverse Indian contexts.
