Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing
Full Form of DIKSHA
What is DIKSHA?
DIKSHA is the national digital platform launched by the Ministry of Education (formerly Ministry of Human Resource Development), Government of India, to provide open, reusable educational resources for school education. It was developed as part of the National Education Policy 2020's vision for leveraging technology in teaching and learning. The platform hosts interactive courses, textbooks, lesson plans, videos, and assessments aligned with state and national curricula, including NCERT materials. DIKSHA is used by teachers, students, and parents across all states and union territories, enabling anytime, anywhere learning. It also supports teacher professional development through integrated training modules and certification courses under programmes like NISHTHA. The platform is accessible via web and mobile app, with content available in multiple Indian languages. For competitive exams like CTET and state-level teaching eligibility tests, familiarity with DIKSHA is often tested as a current affairs topic or as a tool for digital pedagogy. The initiative has been instrumental in bridging the digital divide in education, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it served as a primary resource for remote learning.
