One Village One World
Full Form of OVW
What is OVW?
One Village One World (OVW) is an initiative launched by India’s Ministry of External Affairs in 2022 to connect rural villages with the Indian diaspora abroad. Under this program, each participating village is paired with a group of overseas Indians, known as a ‘Diaspora Community,’ to foster cultural exchange, skill development, and infrastructure support. The scheme leverages the expertise and financial resources of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) to address local challenges in healthcare, education, water conservation, and digital literacy. OVW is implemented through the e-VidyaBharti and e-Aushadhi platforms, enabling virtual knowledge transfer and telemedicine services. The initiative is particularly relevant for aspirants preparing for UPSC Civil Services and other government exams, as it exemplifies India’s soft diplomacy and grassroots development model. It is operational across select villages in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu, with plans for nationwide expansion. By bridging urban-rural and global-local divides, OVW empowers villages to become self-reliant while strengthening ties with the Indian diaspora.
