A Virtual Learning Environment, commonly abbreviated as VLE, is a web-based digital platform that supports teaching, learning, and assessment by bringing together course content, communication tools, assessments, and student progress tracking in one accessible online space. In India, VLEs have become an integral part of schools, colleges, and professional training institutions, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of online and hybrid learning models. Popular VLE platforms used across Indian educational institutions include Moodle, Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams for Education, and open-source alternatives customised for state boards and central universities.
