Objection Verification Module
Full Form of OVM
What is OVM?
The Objection Verification Module (OVM) is a digital platform used by Indian recruitment and examination bodies such as the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC), and various state public service commissions. It allows candidates to formally raise objections against the provisional answer keys of competitive exams. After the exam, the conducting authority releases the answer key; candidates who believe certain answers are incorrect can submit their challenges through the OVM within a stipulated timeframe. Each objection is reviewed by subject experts, and if found valid, the answer key is revised accordingly. This module makes the evaluation process transparent and reduces the need for physical grievance redressal. OVM is typically active for 7–10 days after the answer key publication and is accessible via the official exam website. In India, where millions appear for government job exams, OVM plays a critical role in ensuring fairness. For aspirants, understanding how to use the OVM effectively—by providing supporting evidence—can improve their final scores. The module is also relevant for exams like NEET, JEE, and banking probationary officer tests. From a study perspective, knowing about OVM can help students prepare for post-exam procedural steps and is sometimes tested in general awareness sections of competitive exams.
