Full Form of JUP
What is JUP?
The Jawahar Utkarsh Programme (JUP) is a central sector scheme initiated by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. It aims to provide remedial coaching and academic support to students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, enabling them to compete effectively in entrance examinations for professional courses such as medicine, engineering, law, and management. The programme covers both classroom coaching and distance education, focusing on subjects like mathematics, science, and language skills. JUP is implemented through selected NGOs and institutions across India, particularly in rural and underserved areas. It was launched to bridge the educational gap and promote inclusive growth. Students enrolled in the programme benefit from free study materials, mock tests, and mentorship. The scheme is relevant for competitive exams like NEET, IIT-JEE, CLAT, and management entrance tests. JUP plays a crucial role in enhancing the representation of disadvantaged communities in higher education and professional fields. It is an important initiative for social equity and is often referenced in policy discussions on affirmative action and educational reforms.
