Joint Review Mission
Full Form of JRM
What is JRM?
The Joint Review Mission, commonly abbreviated as JRM, is a high-level supervisory and evaluation mechanism undertaken by the Government of India to assess the performance, progress, and challenges of large-scale public welfare programmes, most notably the National Health Mission. Conducted annually under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the JRM brings together senior central and state government officials, public health experts, development partners, and representatives from global organisations such as the World Health Organization. The mission visits select states, inspects healthcare facilities at district and sub-district levels, interacts with frontline health workers and beneficiaries, and submits detailed recommendations for improving service delivery. In India, JRM findings play a crucial role in shaping health policy revisions, fund allocation decisions, and course corrections in flagship schemes. It is widely referenced in UPSC Civil Services examinations, particularly under Public Health and Governance sections, making it a significant acronym for aspirants preparing for government service.
