What is JIK?
The Joint Information Kiosk, commonly referred to as JIK, is a centralized digital service point set up under various Indian government e-governance initiatives to deliver public services at the grassroots level. These kiosks are typically located in rural areas, panchayat offices, post offices, and Common Service Centres (CSCs), allowing citizens to access essential government information and services without travelling to distant district headquarters. The role of JIK in India is significant as it supports the Digital India mission by bridging the digital divide and ensuring last-mile delivery of services such as Aadhaar updates, certificate applications, pension status checks, and utility bill payments.
