What is UPB?
The Uttar Pradesh Board, commonly referred to as UP Board or UPB, is one of the largest and oldest educational examination bodies in India. Established in 1921 and headquartered in Allahabad, now officially known as Prayagraj, it operates as the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Uttar Pradesh. The board conducts annual examinations for Class 10, known as the High School exam, and Class 12, referred to as the Intermediate exam, across tens of thousands of affiliated government and private schools throughout the state. UPB is responsible for designing syllabi, prescribing textbooks, and evaluating answer scripts for both secondary and higher secondary levels. With more than three crore registered students appearing every year, it is widely regarded as the world's largest examination body by examinee count. The board's certification is accepted for higher education admissions across India. For aspirants preparing for competitive exams, familiarity with the UPB examination pattern, marking scheme, and previous year question papers remains highly useful. Results are typically declared around April or May, and the board has steadily adopted digital evaluation methods to improve transparency and processing speed across its vast network of testing centres.
