Training Practice Exercise
Full Form of TPX
What is TPX?
Training Practice Exercise (TPX) refers to a structured military drill conducted by India's armed forces to enhance operational readiness and combat preparedness without engaging live combat. In the Indian defence ecosystem, TPX forms a core part of routine training schedules across the Army, Navy, and Air Force, helping commanders simulate realistic battlefield conditions and evaluate troop performance. These exercises are typically held at major military training centres, field firing ranges, and joint service establishments across the country, including locations in Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, and the northeastern states. TPX enables units to test new tactical doctrines, sharpen weapon-handling skills, and improve inter-service coordination, which is critical for high-altitude warfare, counter-terrorism operations, and border security along the Line of Actual Control and Line of Control. For aspirants preparing for UPSC CDS, NDA, and AFCAT examinations, familiarity with TPX and similar military abbreviations is valuable as such terms frequently appear in the general knowledge and defence awareness sections.
