Swachh Youth Club
Full Form of SYC
What is SYC?
SYC stands for Swachh Youth Club, a youth-driven initiative operating under the umbrella of the Swachh Bharat Mission, which is the flagship cleanliness and sanitation programme launched by the Government of India. The primary purpose of these clubs is to engage students and young volunteers in spreading awareness about hygiene, sanitation, waste management, and the importance of clean surroundings at the grassroots level. In India, SYCs are typically formed in schools, colleges, and community spaces, where members actively organise cleanliness drives, rallies, poster campaigns, and awareness sessions in their neighbourhoods. The clubs work closely with local municipal bodies, panchayats, and district administration to support the larger vision of an Open Defecation Free and garbage-free India. They also encourage behavioural change by promoting practices like handwashing, segregation of wet and dry waste, and water conservation. For competitive exam aspirants, SYC frequently appears in questions related to government schemes, social welfare programmes, and current affairs linked to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
