Public Health eXchange
Full Form of PHX
What is PHX?
The Public Health eXchange (PHX) is a digital platform designed to facilitate seamless sharing and analysis of health data across various public health programs in India. It serves as an integrated hub where state and central health departments, district hospitals, primary health centres, and research institutions can exchange information on disease surveillance, immunization coverage, maternal and child health indicators, and outbreak responses. PHX was developed under the National Health Mission to strengthen India's health data ecosystem and enable evidence-based policy-making. It is used extensively during national health campaigns, such as pulse polio drives and COVID-19 tracking, where real-time data interoperability is critical. The platform supports standardized data formats and APIs, ensuring compatibility with existing systems like the Health Management Information System (HMIS) and Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP). For students preparing for UPSC, state PCS, or public health exams, understanding PHX is relevant as it reflects India's push toward digital health transformation and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. The initiative underscores the government's commitment to using technology for equitable healthcare delivery and rapid epidemic response.
