National Youth Mission
Full Form of NYM
What is NYM?
The National Youth Mission (NYM) is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, designed to empower the country's youth by equipping them with skills, leadership qualities, and opportunities for holistic development. Launched under the broader umbrella of youth-centric policies, the NYM focuses on key areas such as skill training, entrepreneurship, health, sports, and civic participation. It operates through a network of state-level and district-level youth hubs, integrating existing programs like Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and the National Youth Corps. The mission aims to harness the demographic dividend by reaching out to young people aged 15-29, particularly those from rural and underserved communities. It is implemented across all states and union territories, with special emphasis on youth engagement in nation-building activities. For competitive exams like UPSC, State PCS, and UGC-NET, the NYM is a relevant topic under the 'Social Sector' and 'Youth Affairs' sections, often featuring in questions about government schemes for youth empowerment. The mission also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, making it a key reference in discussions on inclusive development and youth-led change in India.
