Medical Entrance Examination
Full Form of MEE
What is MEE?
Medical Entrance Examination (MEE) is a broad term used in India to refer to the competitive exams held for admission into undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs, such as MBBS, BDS, MD, and MS. These exams assess a student's knowledge in subjects like Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, and are a critical gateway for aspiring doctors and dentists. The most prominent MEE in India is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG), which replaced multiple state-level exams to standardize admissions. Other examples include AIIMS MBBS, JIPMER, and state-level MEEs. MEEs are typically held annually in offline or online mode, with strict eligibility criteria including age limits and academic qualifications. Their role is to ensure merit-based selection into government and private medical colleges, which are highly sought after due to limited seats. For students, clearing an MEE is often the first step toward a medical career, and thus these exams are taken very seriously, with extensive coaching and preparation. In terms of exam relevance, questions about MEE types, syllabi, and cut-offs frequently appear in competitive exam guides and career counselling sessions across India.
