Life Skills Course
Full Form of LSC
What is LSC?
A Life Skills Course (LSC) is a structured educational programme designed to equip students with essential abilities for everyday life, such as communication, decision-making, critical thinking, empathy, and stress management. In India, the concept gained momentum after the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005 and was further strengthened by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which mandates the integration of life skills into school curricula from primary to higher secondary levels. LSCs are typically implemented through classroom activities, workshops, and role-plays, and are used by CBSE and many state boards as part of the Co-Scholastic or Health and Physical Education subjects. These courses aim to foster holistic development, preparing students not only for exams but also for personal and professional challenges. For competitive exams like CTET or KVS, understanding LSC objectives is often tested under child development and pedagogy sections. While not a standalone exam subject, LSC concepts appear in teacher eligibility tests and counselling modules, making it relevant for educators and students alike. The program also aligns with global frameworks like WHO’s life skills approach, adapted to Indian socio-cultural contexts.
