Kisan QR Code
Full Form of KQR
What is KQR?
KQR stands for Kisan QR Code, a digital initiative by the Government of India launched under the Digital India programme. It is essentially a Quick Response (QR) code assigned to each eligible farmer, linked to their Aadhaar and land records. The KQR enables farmers to seamlessly access subsidies, purchase agricultural inputs like seeds and fertilizers at authorised outlets, and receive direct benefit transfers (DBT) without paperwork. It is used at Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), banks, and fair price shops across the country. The system reduces fraud by ensuring that only genuine beneficiaries avail of scheme benefits. KQR is particularly relevant for examinations like UPSC, IBPS, and RBI Grade B, where questions on digital governance and agricultural reforms appear. It also supports the PM-KISAN scheme by providing a quick verification mechanism. By digitising the subsidy chain, KQR promotes transparency and empowers small and marginal farmers. Its usage has grown significantly in states like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Punjab, where agriculture is a major economic activity. The KQR is a key tool in the government’s push for paperless, cashless, and faceless service delivery in rural India.
