Interaction Design
Full Form of IXD
What is IXD?
Interaction Design (IXD) is a discipline focused on designing interactive digital products, environments, systems, and services that are intuitive, efficient, and enjoyable for users. It bridges human behavior and technology by defining how users interact with interfaces—covering everything from buttons and gestures to voice commands and haptic feedback. In India, IXD has gained prominence with the rapid expansion of digital platforms, e-commerce, fintech, and govtech applications. Companies such as Flipkart, Zomato, Paytm, and government portals like UMANG rely on interaction designers to create seamless user journeys. IXD is taught in design schools like NID, IDC IIT Bombay, and Srishti, and is a core subject in UX design courses. For exams like NIFT, NID DAT, and UCEED, questions often explore principles of affordance, feedback, mapping, and mental models. The field also intersects with usability heuristics and human-computer interaction (HCI). As India’s digital economy grows, IXD professionals are increasingly sought after to ensure digital products are accessible to diverse linguistic and cultural audiences. Whether designing mobile apps for farmers or dashboard interfaces for urban professionals, interaction design plays a vital role in making technology truly human-centric.
