E-Verification Key
Full Form of EKV
What is EKV?
An E-Verification Key (EKV) is a cryptographic token used in digital authentication systems to validate the identity of users or documents in online transactions. In India, the EKV is commonly integrated with Aadhaar-based e-KYC processes, digital signatures, and secure access to government portals such as the Income Tax e-filing website, GST portal, and DigiLocker. When a user initiates a verification request, the system generates a unique EKV that must be entered within a short validity period, ensuring that only the intended recipient can complete the verification. This mechanism reduces fraud and enhances the security of sensitive data exchanges. EKVs are also employed by banks and financial institutions for loan applications, account opening, and high-value transactions, aligning with the Reserve Bank of India's guidelines on multi-factor authentication. The key is typically delivered via SMS or email and is tied to the user's mobile number or Aadhaar. For competitive exams like IBPS PO and SBI Clerk, candidates are expected to understand concepts like EKV as part of the banking and digital security syllabus. The adoption of EKV has streamlined verification workflows across sectors, making it a cornerstone of India's digital infrastructure.
