Digital Village Worker
Full Form of DVW
What is DVW?
A Digital Village Worker (DVW) is a grassroots-level functionary appointed under the Digital India programme to promote digital literacy and deliver e-governance services in rural areas of India. The role involves helping villagers access online services such as Aadhaar updates, digital payments, land record queries, and government scheme applications through Common Service Centres (CSCs). DVWs are typically local youth trained to operate basic digital tools, tablets, and internet-based platforms. They serve as the bridge between citizens and digital infrastructure, especially in regions with limited connectivity. The concept gained traction under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA) and various state-level digital village initiatives. DVWs are often deployed in Gram Panchayats to support activities like online grievance redressal, telemedicine consultations, and e-learning facilitation. For competitive examinations like UPSC, State PCS, and banking exams, DVW appears in questions related to rural development schemes, digital governance, and inclusive technology policy. The position underscores the government’s focus on last-mile connectivity and digital empowerment in rural India.
