Case Study Questions
Full Form of CSQ
What is CSQ?
Case Study Questions (CSQs) are a type of assessment item introduced in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examination pattern to evaluate students’ analytical and practical understanding of concepts. Unlike traditional rote-memory questions, CSQs present a real-world scenario or a simulated situation, followed by a set of questions that require application of knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. In India, CSQs are primarily used in Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations across subjects such as Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Commerce. They were formally adopted from the 2021-2022 academic session as part of the CBSE’s move towards competency-based learning, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020. Students encounter CSQs in both internal assessments and final board papers, with weightage varying by subject. For competitive exams like JEE and NEET, similar question formats appear under different names. Understanding how to approach CSQs is essential for scoring well, as they test deeper comprehension rather than mere recall. Practicing case studies helps students develop reasoning and decision-making abilities, which are vital for higher education and professional careers.
