Child Health and Hygiene
Full Form of CHH
What is CHH?
Child Health and Hygiene refers to the comprehensive set of practices, medical protocols, and educational frameworks aimed at safeguarding the physical wellbeing and cleanliness of children from infancy through adolescence. In India, this concept forms a crucial pillar of public health policy, especially under the National Health Mission and the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) programme. It encompasses immunization schedules, nutritional monitoring, sanitation practices, oral and personal hygiene education, and the prevention of communicable diseases among children. ASHA and Anganwadi workers play a frontline role in spreading child health and hygiene awareness across rural and semi-urban India. Schools across the country have also adopted structured hygiene curricula to instil habits like handwashing, dental care, and safe drinking water practices. Government schemes such as the POSHAN Abhiyaan and the School Health Programme further strengthen these efforts. The concept regularly features in nursing entrance exams, ANM training modules, and UPSC public health syllabi.
