Bharat Seva Kendra
Full Form of BSK
What is BSK?
Bharat Seva Kendra (BSK) is a common service center established under the Government of India's Digital India initiative to deliver essential government services to citizens, especially in rural and remote areas. These kendras function as single-window access points for a wide range of administrative tasks, including application for Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, voter ID, ration cards, birth and death certificates, and various pension schemes. BSKs are typically operated by local entrepreneurs or Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) who receive training and support from the government. They play a pivotal role in bridging the digital divide by providing internet-based services to populations with limited connectivity. BSKs are found across several states, often integrated with Common Service Centres (CSCs), and are actively used for disbursing subsidies under schemes like PM Kisan and Ujjwala Yojana. For competitive exams like UPSC or state PSCs, knowledge of BSKs is relevant under the topics of e-Governance, public service delivery, and Digital India. The centers also assist in financial inclusion by enabling banking correspondents and insurance enrolment, thereby contributing to the government's vision of a digitally empowered society.
