Antyodaya Udyog Yojana
Full Form of AUY
What is AUY?
Antyodaya Udyog Yojana (AUY) is a flagship self-employment scheme launched by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. It was introduced in 2014 with the aim of providing sustainable livelihood opportunities to the urban and rural poor, particularly those living below the poverty line. The scheme focuses on empowering marginalized communities—such as Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other backward classes—by offering subsidized loans, skill development training, and marketing support to set up micro-enterprises. AUY is implemented through the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and state-level agencies, and it operates across all districts of India. The scheme is commonly referenced in competitive examinations like UPSC, SSC, and banking exams, especially in questions related to government initiatives for poverty alleviation and rural development. Notable features include a loan subsidy of up to 30% for general category beneficiaries and 35% for special categories, with a maximum project cost of ₹10 lakh for manufacturing and ₹5 lakh for service units. AUY aims to reduce unemployment by promoting a culture of entrepreneurship at the grassroots level, thereby supplementing other national schemes like PMEGP and MUDRA.
