Vigilance Review Workshop
Full Form of VRW
What is VRW?
The Vigilance Review Workshop (VRW) is a structured training and review programme conducted in Indian government departments, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and select banks to strengthen internal vigilance mechanisms and promote transparency in administration. Organised typically by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) in collaboration with chief vigilance officers of various ministries, the workshop brings together officers to review pending vigilance cases, discuss policy circulars, share best practices in anti-corruption measures, and identify systemic loopholes that may lead to irregularities. VRWs are conducted annually or biannually in cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai, and they cover topics such as preventive vigilance, complaint handling, disciplinary proceedings, and the latest amendments to the Central Vigilance Manual. Participants include senior officials, vigilance officers, and HR personnel who handle sensitive cases. The workshop also serves as a platform to align departmental procedures with the latest guidelines issued by the CVC and the Lokpal. For aspirants preparing for UPSC, SSC, banking, or public administration examinations, understanding the functioning of vigilance bodies and the objectives of VRWs is useful for papers related to governance, ethics, and public policy.
