What is VRT?
Variable Rate Technology, commonly abbreviated as VRT, is an advanced precision agriculture technique that allows farmers to apply inputs like fertilizers, pesticides, seeds, and water at varying rates across different sections of a field, based on specific soil and crop requirements. The core idea behind VRT is to optimize the use of agricultural inputs by matching them precisely to the needs of each zone within a farmland rather than applying a uniform amount across the entire area. In India, VRT is gaining significant attention as part of the broader push towards precision farming and smart agriculture, particularly in states like Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Karnataka where farming is highly commercialized.
