Full Form of VLC
What is VLC?
VLC Media Player, originally known as VideoLAN Client, is a free, open-source, and cross-platform multimedia player developed by the VideoLAN project. Created in 1996 as a part of a student project at the École Centrale Paris, VLC has grown into one of the most widely used media players in the world, including in India. It supports virtually every audio and video file format, such as MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, FLAC, and MP3, without requiring additional codecs. VLC is used by millions of Indian students, content creators, and IT professionals for streaming local files, online videos, and even DVDs. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, making it highly versatile. The software also offers features like screen recording, video conversion, subtitle synchronization, and streaming over local networks. In India, VLC is popular among engineering students and competitive exam aspirants who use it to play recorded lectures and tutorials. It is not typically a direct exam topic but is widely recognized in computer awareness sections of banking, SSC, and other government competitive exams.
