Unnat Bharat Abhiyan
Full Form of UBA
What is UBA?
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is a flagship national programme launched by the Ministry of Education, Government of India in 2014 to link higher educational institutions with rural communities across the country. The scheme encourages students, researchers, and faculty from universities, IITs, NITs, and colleges to work directly with nearby villages on real-world development challenges such as clean water, sanitation, rural livelihoods, renewable energy, and basic healthcare. Under UBA, participating institutions adopt clusters of villages and design region-specific development projects that use local knowledge and modern technology. In India, UBA plays a vital role in shaping village adoption programmes, MHRD-funded rural innovation grants, and social responsibility initiatives in higher education. It is also widely referenced in UGC guidelines, AICTE approvals, and institutional rankings. For students preparing for competitive exams like UGC NET, GATE, or central government recruitment, understanding UBA is important under the higher education and government schemes sections.
