Travelling Ticket Examiner
Full Form of TTE
What is TTE?
A Travelling Ticket Examiner, commonly known as a TTE, is a vital staff member of Indian Railways who is responsible for checking the tickets of passengers travelling on trains across the country. Working under the Ministry of Railways, TTEs are posted on long-distance express and superfast trains and sometimes at major junction stations where they verify whether each passenger holds a valid ticket or reservation for the journey. If a passenger is found travelling without a proper ticket, the TTE has the authority to collect a fine or issue a penalty as per railway rules. Beyond ticket verification, they also assist passengers with coach and berth-related queries, maintain passenger records, update reservation charts, and coordinate closely with the Train Guard and other railway staff. The role of a TTE is essential for ensuring order, safety, and revenue collection within the vast Indian Railways network, which carries millions of passengers every single day. Candidates aspiring to join as a TTE must appear for recruitment examinations conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board, making this term highly relevant for government job aspirants preparing for competitive exams across India.
