Tactical Strike Zone
Full Form of TSZ
What is TSZ?
Tactical Strike Zone (TSZ) is a military operational term that refers to a specifically designated geographical area where precision combat operations, targeted strikes, or high-intensity tactical missions are planned and executed. In the Indian defence framework, TSZs are conceptualised by the armed forces to compartmentalise conflict zones, particularly along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir and in counter-insurgency theatres of the Northeast, allowing commanders to allocate resources, plan surgical operations, and coordinate rapid response actions. The concept helps in defining clear boundaries for artillery, air support, and ground troop movements, ensuring operational efficiency and minimising collateral damage. TSZs are often referenced in internal military briefings, after-action reports, and strategic doctrine discussions within the Indian Army and paramilitary forces. For aspirants preparing for defence entrance examinations such as CDS, NDA, AFCAT, or UPSC CAPF, understanding tactical terminology like TSZ is important as questions on modern warfare concepts and operational jargon frequently appear in the general knowledge and current affairs sections.
