Thermal Overall Grade
Full Form of TOG
What is TOG?
Thermal Overall Grade, commonly abbreviated as TOG, is a standardised unit of measurement used to express the thermal insulation or warmth of a textile product, particularly bedding items such as duvets, blankets, quilts, and baby sleep sacks. The TOG rating system originated in the United Kingdom and has since been adopted globally, including across India, where it is widely printed on winter wear packaging, baby care products, and home furnishing labels. A higher TOG value indicates a warmer product, with ratings typically ranging from 0.5 TOG for lightweight summer use up to 13.5 TOG for extremely warm winter bedding. Indian parents shopping for infant products frequently refer to TOG ratings to choose appropriate sleepwear based on room temperature and seasonal conditions. It is not typically a direct exam topic in Indian competitive examinations, though understanding such everyday measurements helps in consumer awareness and general knowledge sections.
