State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur
Full Form of SBB
What is SBB?
State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur (SBB) was one of the associate banks of the State Bank of India (SBI) group, headquartered in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Established in 1963 through the merger of the Bank of Bikaner and the Bank of Jaipur, SBB served as a crucial banking institution in the desert state, providing financial services to both urban and rural customers across Rajasthan. The bank played a significant role in promoting banking penetration in the region, particularly in semi-urban and rural areas, supporting agriculture, small businesses, and trade activities that were central to the state's economy. As part of the SBI associate banks group, SBB followed the parent bank's operational framework while maintaining a strong regional identity and brand recognition. In 2017, the Government of India, on the recommendation of the Reserve Bank of India, merged SBB along with four other associate banks into the parent State Bank of India, creating a stronger unified banking entity. The merger was aimed at consolidating banking operations and improving overall efficiency. The acronym SBB remains highly relevant for students preparing for banking competitive exams where questions about historical banking institutions and their mergers are frequently asked.
