The Rail Wheel Factory, commonly known by its acronym RWB, is a premier manufacturing unit of Indian Railways located in Yelahanka, Bangalore, Karnataka. Established in 1984 as a greenfield project under the Ministry of Railways, RWB specialises in the production of wheels, axles, and wheel sets that are critical components for railway rolling stock across the country. The factory is recognised as one of the largest and most sophisticated wheel manufacturing plants in the world, equipped with advanced forging, heat treatment, and machining facilities. RWB supplies its products not only to Indian Railways but also exports to several countries, contributing significantly to the Make in India initiative. It plays a vital role in supporting the vast Indian railway network, which operates over 68,000 route kilometres and is one of the largest rail systems globally.
