What is RTV?
Rajya Sabha Television, popularly known as RSTV or RTV, is the official television channel of the Upper House of the Indian Parliament, managed directly by the Parliament of India. Originally launched in 2011 under the name Lok Sabha Television and later renamed Rajya Sabha TV in 2015, the channel broadcasts live proceedings of the Rajya Sabha, in-depth debates, policy discussions, and analytical programmes on national and international issues. It plays a vital role in bringing parliamentary democracy closer to ordinary citizens by making legislative discussions accessible to viewers across India through cable, DTH, and digital platforms. RSTV produces several acclaimed shows such as The Big Picture, Spotlight, Public Speak, and India's World, which are widely referenced by students preparing for competitive examinations. For UPSC, SSC, and state public service commission aspirants, RSTV content serves as a reliable source for current affairs, polity, and governance topics, often helping candidates frame better answers in the examination hall.
