Rashtriya Rozgar Yojana
Full Form of RRY
What is RRY?
Rashtriya Rozgar Yojana, commonly referred to as RRY, is a centrally sponsored employment and skill development scheme launched by the Government of India with the primary objective of reducing unemployment, particularly among educated youth, and promoting self-employment opportunities across the country. The scheme operates by extending financial assistance in the form of subsidies and credit support to eligible candidates who wish to set up small-scale enterprises or micro-business ventures, thereby encouraging entrepreneurship at the grassroots level. In the Indian context, RRY plays a vital role in addressing the chronic issue of joblessness by channelising institutional credit through public sector banks, regional rural banks, and cooperative institutions toward income-generating activities. The scheme is administered through the District Industries Centres and the Khadi and Village Industries Commission at the district level, ensuring that benefits reach aspirants in semi-urban and rural pockets. RRY is frequently referenced in competitive examinations such as UPSC, SSC, banking, and state public service commission tests, where candidates are expected to know the salient features, eligibility criteria, and funding pattern of major central government employment schemes, making it a recurring topic in the general awareness and economy sections of these exams.
