Regulated Qualifications Framework
Full Form of RQF
What is RQF?
The Regulated Qualifications Framework, commonly known as RQF, is the single regulated qualifications framework operating across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Introduced in 2015 by the Office of Qualifications and Standards Regulation (Ofqual), it replaced the earlier Quality and Credit Framework and National Qualifications Framework to bring all regulated qualifications under one unified system. The RQF organizes qualifications into nine levels based on their difficulty, ranging from Entry Level through Level 8, with Level 8 corresponding to doctoral degrees. While RQF is a UK-specific framework, it holds considerable importance for Indian students aspiring to study or work in the United Kingdom. Understanding the RQF helps Indian learners evaluate how their existing qualifications and certifications align with British standards when applying to universities, seeking skilled employment, or pursuing professional recognition. Many Indian applicants use the RQF as a reference point during visa applications and overseas education planning. The framework also assists employers and academic institutions in benchmarking international credentials against recognized UK standards.
