What is RHK?
Rashtriya Hindi Kendra (RHK) is a premier organisation under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, dedicated exclusively to the promotion and enrichment of the Hindi language and its literature. Established in the mid-20th century, it serves as the national nodal agency for organising literary seminars, workshops, cultural exchange programmes, and annual Hindi conferences across states. The RHK also undertakes publication of high-quality Hindi books, scholarly journals, and dictionaries, while offering grants and fellowships to emerging and established writers. In India, RHK remains pivotal in implementing the Official Language Act, fostering Hindi in government offices, and encouraging its use in education. It collaborates with state Hindi academies and international institutions to spread Hindi globally. For competitive exam preparation, particularly for UPSC, State Civil Services, and UGC NET in Hindi, knowledge of RHK's role is often tested in sections on language policy and cultural institutions. The centre also celebrates Hindi Diwas with national events, recognitions, and awards. By bridging traditional and modern expressions of Hindi, RHK ensures the language evolves with contemporary needs while preserving its classical roots. Its contribution to Indian cultural unity is immense and continues to shape the linguistic landscape of the nation.
