Qualified eXchange Program
Full Form of QXP
What is QXP?
The Qualified eXchange Program (QXP) is a structured international student mobility initiative designed to facilitate academic exchanges between Indian institutions and partner universities abroad. Under QXP, eligible undergraduate and postgraduate students spend one or two semesters at a foreign university while earning credits that are transferred back to their home institution. The program is commonly administered by India’s University Grants Commission (UGC) in collaboration with foreign education bodies, and it is widely used by central universities, state universities, and private deemed-to-be universities across the country. QXP aims to enhance cross-cultural learning, improve language proficiency, and prepare Indian students for global careers. It is particularly relevant for students pursuing degrees in engineering, management, and the humanities. The selection process typically considers academic performance, language test scores, and a statement of purpose. For competitive exams like UGC NET or university-specific entrance tests, knowledge of such exchange schemes demonstrates awareness of international education trends. QXP has grown in importance with the National Education Policy 2020, which encourages internationalisation of Indian higher education.
