Quick Response Code
Full Form of QRC
What is QRC?
A Quick Response Code (QRC) is a two-dimensional barcode that stores information such as URLs, payment details, or contact data, and can be scanned using a smartphone camera. In India, QRCs have become ubiquitous due to the rapid adoption of digital payments through platforms like UPI, where customers scan a merchant’s QRC to transfer money instantly. They are also used in retail, transportation, healthcare, and education for quick access to websites, forms, or product details. Unlike traditional barcodes, QRCs can be read from any angle and store more data. The Reserve Bank of India and NPCI have standardized QRC usage for interoperability across payment apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm. In examinations, QRC-based OMR sheets or admit card verification are increasingly common. QRCs are printed on posters, product labels, and tickets for seamless interaction. They offer a contactless, secure, and efficient way to share information, making them a cornerstone of India's digital transformation. Though the correct acronym is QR, QRC is frequently used colloquially and in older documentation.
