Panchayat Zila Federation
Full Form of PZF
What is PZF?
Panchayat Zila Federation (PZF) is an umbrella organization that coordinates the activities of multiple Gram Panchayats within a district in India. It serves as a bridge between village-level local bodies and district administration, facilitating the implementation of central and state government schemes related to rural development, agriculture, health, and education. The PZF plays a crucial role in resource allocation, training of panchayat representatives, and monitoring grassroots projects. It is typically formed under the guidance of the District Panchayat Officer and works in tandem with the Zilla Parishad. The concept gained prominence after the 73rd Constitutional Amendment, which mandated a three-tier Panchayati Raj system. States like Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra have effective PZF-like structures for decentralized planning. The federation meets periodically to discuss common issues, pool resources, and ensure uniform progress across villages. For competitive exams such as UPSC Civil Services and state PCS, understanding PZF is important under local governance and rural development topics. It is also relevant for students of public administration and social work.
