Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Yojana
Full Form of PYJ
What is PYJ?
Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Yojana (PMJVY) is a centrally sponsored scheme implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India. It aims to address development deficits in areas with high concentration of minority communities by providing infrastructure for education, health, skill development, and basic amenities. Launched in 2008 as a restructured version of the earlier Multi-sectoral Development Programme (MsDP), PMJVY operates in identified districts, blocks, and towns with significant minority populations. The scheme focuses on creating community assets like schools, anganwadi centres, health clinics, and sports facilities, thereby enhancing access to services and improving quality of life. It is a critical tool for inclusive growth and social justice, often cited in competitive examinations for civil services, especially in Indian polity and government schemes sections.
