Open Government Partnership
Full Form of OGP
What is OGP?
The Open Government Partnership (OGP) is an international multilateral initiative launched in 2011 that aims to secure concrete commitments from governments to promote transparency, empower citizens, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to strengthen governance. India joined the OGP in 2011 as a founding member and has since developed a series of National Action Plans (NAPs) outlining specific reforms. These reforms focus on areas such as public service delivery, open data, citizen engagement, and anti-corruption measures. The OGP serves as a platform for dialogue between government, civil society, and the private sector, encouraging co-creation of policies. In India, the OGP is implemented under the purview of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). It is frequently discussed in policy circles, governance workshops, and UPSC civil services examinations, especially in the context of transparency and accountability in administration. The initiative reinforces India's commitment to good governance and participatory democracy.
