Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya
Full Form of OAV
What is OAV?
Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV) are a network of model residential schools established by the Government of Odisha, India. Launched in 2014 under the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS), they aim to provide quality education to rural and underprivileged students, bridging the urban-rural education gap. These schools follow the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum and offer free education, including uniforms, textbooks, and residential facilities, from Class VI to XII. Each OAV is equipped with modern infrastructure, smart classrooms, and trained teachers to foster holistic development. The initiative mirrors the central government's Navodaya Vidyalaya model but is state-run. OAVs are particularly relevant for students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, ensuring equitable access to education. Admissions are based on a competitive entrance exam conducted annually. For exams like the Odisha State eligibility tests and competitive entrance exams, understanding the OAV system is beneficial as it represents a key state-level educational reform. The schools also emphasize co-curricular activities, sports, and value education, preparing students for higher studies and national-level competitions.
