Naxalite Zone
Full Form of NXZ
What is NXZ?
The term Naxalite Zone (NXZ) refers to geographical areas in India that are significantly affected by the Naxalite–Maoist insurgency, a left-wing extremist movement rooted in agrarian unrest and class conflict. These zones are primarily located in the central and eastern parts of the country, including states like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, and Telangana. The Indian government designates these regions as Naxal-affected areas to coordinate counter-insurgency operations, development initiatives, and security measures. Security forces, including the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and state police, conduct frequent operations in NXZs to maintain law and order. The classification helps in allocating resources for infrastructure, education, and welfare schemes aimed at addressing the root causes of insurgency. NXZs are often characterized by dense forests, poor connectivity, and lack of basic amenities. The term is used in government reports, policy documents, and news analyses. Understanding NXZs is important for competitive exams like UPSC and state civil services, where questions on internal security and left-wing extremism frequently appear.
