National Council for Quality
Full Form of NCQ
What is NCQ?
The National Council for Quality (NCQ) is a proposed or advisory body envisioned to oversee and enhance quality standards across Indian educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and vocational training centres. While not yet a statutory body like the NAAC or NCERT, the NCQ concept has been discussed in policy circles to complement existing accreditation frameworks. It would focus on benchmarking infrastructure, teaching methodologies, and student outcomes, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where quality gaps persist. The acronym appears primarily in educational policy documents, conference proceedings, and draft guidelines issued by state education departments. If implemented, NCQ would collaborate with the National Education Policy 2020 to standardise quality metrics. For competitive exams like UGC NET or CTET, awareness of such proposed councils can be useful in questions related to quality assurance in Indian education. The term is also used in industry training programmes to denote internal quality cells.
