Full Form of MSB
What is MSB?
The Maharashtra State Board (MSB), officially the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE), is the public education board responsible for regulating and conducting examinations for secondary (Class 10, SSC) and higher secondary (Class 12, HSC) education in the state of Maharashtra, India. Established under the Maharashtra Secondary Boards Act of 1965, it sets curriculum, textbooks, and assessment standards for millions of students across the state. The board operates through nine divisional boards located in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, and Aurangabad. MSB examinations are held twice a year—March (main) and July (supplementary)—and results are published online. The board is known for its rigorous evaluation and scaling of marks. For competitive exams like JEE and NEET, MSB students often rely on state board syllabi supplemented with additional coaching. Understanding MSB patterns is crucial for students appearing for Class 10 and 12 board exams, as it determines college admissions and career pathways. The board also offers vocational streams and plays a key role in implementing educational policies for Maharashtra.
