Ladakh Zanskar Corridor
Full Form of LZC
What is LZC?
The Ladakh Zanskar Corridor (LZC) is a strategically vital road infrastructure project in the Union Territory of Ladakh, India. It aims to provide all-weather connectivity between the Ladakh region and the remote Zanskar Valley, which is situated near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China. The corridor is being developed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to improve logistical support for the Indian Armed Forces stationed in the high-altitude border areas, reducing dependence on airlift and enabling faster deployment of troops and supplies. Additionally, the LZC is expected to boost tourism and economic development in Zanskar, a region known for its scenic beauty and Buddhist monasteries. Construction involves tunnelling and bridges to overcome challenging terrain and extreme weather conditions. The project is often discussed in the context of India's border infrastructure push and is relevant for UPSC, defence exams, and civil engineering studies. The LZC exemplifies India's focus on enhancing border security and regional integration.
