Learning From Home
Full Form of LFH
What is LFH?
Learning From Home (LFH) refers to the educational model where students attend classes, complete assignments, and interact with teachers remotely from their residences, primarily through digital platforms. In India, LFH gained massive prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic when schools, colleges, and coaching institutes were forced to shut down to ensure social distancing. The government, through initiatives like DIKSHA and SWAYAM, promoted LFH by providing free online resources and broadcast lessons on television and radio. Private edtech companies also scaled their services to support this shift. LFH is used across all levels—from primary school to higher education and professional training. It involves tools such as video conferencing apps (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet), learning management systems (LMS), recorded lectures, and online assessments. While LFH offered continuity of education, it also highlighted the digital divide in India, with many rural students lacking internet access or devices. The model continues to influence blended learning approaches in Indian classrooms. For students preparing for competitive exams like JEE and NEET, LFH provided alternative coaching through virtual batches. Today, LFH is a recognized mode of study, especially for distance education and skill development courses offered by universities and government bodies.
